Heading In The Right Direction

A couple of weeks ago, my wife was out on the back patio when she came running into the house and in a rather panicked voice said: "There is a a a porky type thing out there"! My 10 year old gave her a rather interesting raised eyebrow look, and being the official handler of porky type things at our house, I grabbed my camera and ran out! This little guy took up a defensive position under one of our vehicles, right next to the tire, so I took out a long plastic pipe and attempted to move him out for a better shot (my wife thought my main objective was to get rid of him). Well it took a little prodding, and this guy/gal (I did not check), decided there was a bit too much activity at our household, and took off across the street and into a field. Unfortunately, none of my shots turned out all that well, but I did get this clear shot of the retreat.

This is a great shot! As the official handler of porky type things, I think you've defended your title well. I'm assuming it's a porcupine? We don't see many of them here in NYC...

I assume that's his front since you said he ran across the road. I really can't tell. ;D

Porky front or back, I think you did your self proud. The shot really shows his quills. Something i don't want to mess with.

I've never seen one of those around here, although we do have plenty of armadillos now. Great shot of the getaway.

Although we can only see the back, I'm sure the little fellow must be a very cute one! :-)

Love this shot. Love how the photo shows his scurrying off in a hurry!
