See You At The Pole

For a number of years now, students across the US have gathered around their school flag poles at at 7am on the 4th Wednesday of September to pray for their school and their country. Today was no exception at Delta High School. If students are willing to do that, there is hope for our future.

Amen to that too Bill. Our church is active in that too. It really gives me hope.

Wouldn't it be nicer to pray for our WORLD, rather than just one country?

Susan, actually, I respectfully disagree. While it is a nice sentiment, what does God do with a request to make the world a nicer place? Praying for our leaders to make wise and moral decisions is a tough enough request. But going past that, sometimes bigger is not always better. I suspect if everyone would start praying for their families and neighbors, the entire world would be well served. I am just impressed that high school kids would make the effort at all.

I suppose the same things he does with other requests.

More important than to pray for anyone is to actually DO for others.

Anonymous: Having been on receiving end of countless blessings that could have only come from God, I will disagree with the implications of the second sentence. As for the ending thought, I agree that doing things for people is very important, and I put my actions and money where my keyboard is at in this case, but I would take issue with the relative importance you place on the two items. Something tells me you won't like today's post (10/18/07) :)

On a side note, I have had a number or interesting discussions with anonymous posters, and have decided to disallow anonymous posting on this blog. I like knowing who I am talking to when the comments get interesting.
