Fuzzy Eagle

The amount of wildlife you can see floating in December is amazing. We saw a number of Eagles, a Falcon, Blue Herrings, ducks, and deer. This shot, while a bit fuzzy, shows you one of our visitors. Considering that I was leaning backwards in a lawn chair, floating down a river, using a long lens, trying to track our friend, I thought it turned out ok.

Please do me a favor. If you are trying to leave a comment, but can't because of the Word Verification, drop me an email throught the link in my profile, letting me know what is going on. I have had problems in the past with this feature, and wonder if they are now fixed.

It turned out better than okay. I never can capture birds, they never stay still long enough. Beautiful capture.

On this important day in world history, it is great to see the symbol of America soaring freely in the azure blue skies of Colorado.

A fitting subject to post on Pearl Harbor Day, a day when our Pacific Navy was crushed, but we survived to become the victors. Eagles, although nearly brought to extinction, through help from the endangered species act now soar our skies in ever increasing numbers. Great capture and thanks for sharing your float trip.

I like the eagle but I want to hear more about how you float down a river in a lawn chair?

Bill said...

Annie: Well since you asked, the boat we were on was an inflatable pontoon boat with aluminum frame / platform connecting them. There was a large cooler strapped to the back of the platform that formed the seat for the oarsman, but the passenger (It is really a 2 person craft) has no seat, so we placed a lawn chair on the front portion of the deck. When the water would wash over the decking, I would pick up my feet. Did not want them to be cold!

And I thank you for the explanation, Bill. I knew you wouldn't want to be in cold water this time of year!

Annie: No, I spend most of my time in hot water :)
