Ute Tribute

This sculpture welcomes you to the site of the “Ute Council Tree” where Ute Indian Chief Ouray and his wife Chipeta, made a peace agreement with the area's white settlers. I wonder if they ever considered that those "white settlers" would also us it for an egg hunt.........

I doubt if they ever considered the possibility of an egg hunt

I wonder how long the treaty lasted as the “Whites” were famous for breaking them.

I bet egg hunt wasn't something that crossed the Ute peoples' minds, at least Easter egg hunts as we know them now. But council trees are everywhere.
