The Crowds are Gone

Until this Fall, every Friday night Delta High School football game was held in this field. Now it is silent, and the lights have moved on to the east, but the game goes on.

I played on this very field 35 years ago against the Delta 7th Grade Team. And off and on every year since that time all the way through High School as a small part of the 100+ game Montrose vs Delta annual rivalry. We started sitting on the home team side every year since moving to Delta 20 years ago. It is a sad passing.

Of particular note, the original Delta swimming pool was located just behind the main bleachers and was a very unique (for its day) removable sliding building that covered the whole pool in the winter and slid off during the summer.
